Feathers and down were prized and collected for pillows and mattresses but how to keep them from blowing away? This substantial basket has a captured lid that can be raised only as far as the top of the handle. It quickly closes to secure the contents. The opening of this basket is large enough for apples or quick small picnics.
Students will weave a square to round basket and then a round lid will be woven before assembling and finishing the basket. The instructor will provide dyed reed so that students may design their own pattern and a wood stain or dye may be used to finish this basket.
